School of Nursing Undergraduate Faculty Instructor (Per Diem)

About the role

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.

Responsibilities

• Plans and supervises student lab and/or clinical experiences or practice based on teaching assignments.
• Participates in scholarly activities based on faculty rank.
• Provides effective didactic instruction based on teaching assignments using appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met.
• Mentors and advises students.
• Participates collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum.
• At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the practice mission, demonstrates competence in an area of clinical expertise and engages in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to the practice of clinical practice.
• At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the research mission advances a program of research, prepares grants and seeks funding, and engages with other missions to foster inquiry within the SON.
• Service Activities These activities could include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director.
• Participates in faculty governance; additional engagement based on rank.
• Administrative Activities As negotiated.

Requirements

• Education (Degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position.): Lecturer: BSN or equivalent Instructor: MSN or equivalent Assistant Professor: Ph.D./DNP or equivalent
• Registrations, Certifications, and/or Licenses (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.) : Oregon RN license BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Experience ( Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position.) : 2 years of clinical practice experience preferred Doctorate preferred. A doctorate is required for ranks of Assistant Professor or higher. Teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or higher preferred.
