About the Role

The L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality & Tourism Management in the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts at San Diego State University is accepting applications for their part-time lecturer pool. Temporary appointments may be either full- or part-time and are often made just prior to the start of the academic term, requiring availability on short notice.

The Fall term runs from mid-August to late December, and the Spring term from mid-January to mid-May. Summer session teaching opportunities may also be available. Initial appointments are typically for one semester or one academic year, renewable based on satisfactory evaluations and continued work availability.

Applications will remain active in the pool for the academic year in which they are submitted.

Pay

Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges are:

  • Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677
  • Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224
  • Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523
  • Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211

Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range.
