About the Role

San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy, Fowler College of Business, with expertise in Accounting Information Systems or Auditing. The position begins August 18, 2027.

The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy is AACSB Accounting accredited, serving approximately 800 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. Academic programs include a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – Accounting Major, Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), Master of Science in Accountancy and Data Analytics (STEM), and a combined 4+1 degree program (BMACC). The School’s faculty consists of 15 tenure-track faculty and several full- and part-time lecturers.

Support for research includes access to databases (e.g., WRDS), funding for approved projects, graduate student assistants, and a research budget for conference travel and research-related expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a vigorous, independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses, particularly in Managerial Accounting or Taxation.
  • Engage in campus and professional service activities.
  • Interact effectively with the business community.
  • Demonstrate commitment to teaching students from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

  • A record of original research, scholarly, or creative accomplishments.
  • Demonstrated capacity to:
    • Develop a vigorous and independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity.
    • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses.
    • Engage in campus and professional service.
  • Demonstration of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two or more of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.
  • Doctorate in Accountancy or a related field, with all degree requirements completed before August 18, 2027.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies.
  • Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding.
  • Proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to research, scholarship, or teaching.
  • University-level teaching experience.
  • Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated interest in relevant service to the university, community, and profession.
  • Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU.
  • Engagement in service or research with diverse populations in higher education.

Pay

The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is $140,000 to $155,000. Salary placement will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, with potential for higher offers in limited circumstances.
