School Nutrition Manager ll
About the Role
The School Nutrition Manager II coordinates food and supply orders and deliveries, provides comprehensive training of all food service staff, supervises food services activities at assigned sites, organizes food preparation activities, and assists food service workers with food preparation and serving. This role ensures compliance with mandated health requirements and reports to the assigned School Nutrition Services Specialist/Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the production of 201 or greater meal equivalents per day.
- Assists in maintaining a disciplined work group and communicates fairly with district personnel, students, and the community.
- Supports continuing education by attending meetings, classes, in-services, and workshops as required.
- Follows Division and School Nutrition Services policies and procedures, including reporting to work as designated.
- Demonstrates teamwork with kitchen, school, and administrative staff.
- Identifies and works toward personal and team goals for upcoming appraisal periods.
- Establishes and maintains communication with the building Principal and promotes healthy food choices.
- Maintains accurate inventory of all kitchen supplies and follows established guidelines.
- Supervises 1-4 kitchen staff, including Leads, Workers, Substitute Workers, and other personnel.
- Works with SNS leadership to train and orient new employees and keeps staff informed of relevant matters.
- Conducts regular school meetings to share ideas and communicate changes.
- Handles employee complaints and grievances, and assists in evaluating kitchen staff annually.
- Provides ongoing training for food production, serving, and equipment use.
- Enters professional development CEUs for staff in Nutrition Services software annually.
- Oversees employee time entry in Oracle and completes daily reports by established deadlines.
- Follows established price lists for sales to students, staff, and patrons.
- Works with food service associates to ensure accurate and timely daily reporting.
- Manages a financially solvent unit, meeting key performance indicators.
- Processes receipts for transactions and prepares deposits for bank drop.
- Merchandises and markets the school food service program to schools and the community.
- Orders weekly supplies based on resources and forecast production requirements.
- Establishes forecasting, sets production needs, and plans employee work schedules to meet USDA and LCPS requirements.
- Assists in selecting ala carte items and menu choices that meet USDA guidelines.
- Maintains high standards of sanitation and safety according to State, Local, and LCPS guidelines.
- Follows menus using standardized recipes and ensures accurate weighing, measuring, and portioning of food.
- Inventories food, condiments, supplies, and equipment at specified intervals.
- Performs other duties as needed to accomplish department goals.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Food Safety and Sanitation Certificate.
- Maintains SNA Level 1 Certification.
Skills
- Ability to learn and follow USDA regulations governing multiple programs.
- Ability to promote and market the school nutrition program to students and the community.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Ability to comprehend and execute appropriate health orders for modified diets (e.g., gluten-free, diabetic, texture).
- Ability to understand food allergy awareness and communicate potential allergens.
- Ability to manage non-traditional meal service programs (e.g., CACFP, Provision II, Breakfast after the Bell, Grab & Go Breakfast).
- Knowledge and ability to work all areas and phases of operation, including computers and POS terminals.

Pay
Salary Range: $27.34 - $35.18 per hour.
Salary Level: Universal/Scale B.1 - Level 7. View salary scale.
Schedule
10 months, 187 days, 7.5 hours per day.
