About the Role

The Hill School seeks a part-time/per-diem Registered Nurse to join a dynamic team of nursing professionals in a 9-12th grade boarding school health center. The role involves assessing, identifying, and treating acute, chronic, and urgent health conditions among students, as well as providing health, wellness, and disease prevention education. The nurse will work independently but with support from a Nurse Practitioner, School Physician, and other nurses, with a provider always available on call.

The Wellness Center operates 24/7 during the 32-week academic year. This position primarily involves scheduled shifts every other weekend evenings (3pm to 11pm, Saturday and Sunday) with opportunities for additional weekday evening shifts (3pm to 11pm). Flexibility to cover all shifts is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to students seeking assistance with acute and/or chronic health and wellness concerns.
  • Administer first aid, urgent care, and nursing interventions as directed by Wellness Center protocols and standing orders.
  • Support chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy through nursing assessment and interventions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student medical information and competently use electronic health record keeping.
  • Communicate professionally and interdisciplinarily with Hill School nurses, providers, athletic trainers, and counseling clinicians.
  • Correspond confidentially with parents, coaches, Dean of Students, dorm parents, and advisers regarding student healthcare needs when indicated.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (BSN preferred) with a current license to practice in Pennsylvania.
  • Background in pediatric, adolescent, public health, and/or school nursing preferred.
  • CPR certification with working knowledge of EpiPen administration, Blood Borne Pathogen protocol, and Narcan administration.
  • Experience working with diverse student communities preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks essential to the nursing role, including bending, lifting, twisting, squatting, and prolonged computer use.
  • Visual acuity for typing, reading, and student recognition; hearing ability for in-person and telephone communication.
