School Nurse (LPN) - An Achievable Dream Middle and High School

About the role

The Care Coordinator works in collaboration with the Newport News Public Schools' Health Services Supervisor to provide professional nursing care to both students and staff at An Achievable Dream Academy, Middle and High School.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Newport News Public Schools' Health Services Supervisor to supervise and provide professional nursing care to both students and staff at An Achievable Dream Academy, Middle and High School.
• Performs and interprets health screenings.
• Affords health care needs assessments to the students.
• Participates in health fairs and education programs that are offered to our local community.
• Develops surveys to assess the needs of students, staff and/or community members and evaluates results.
• Initiates programs for development and implementation based on clinic needs.
• Creates and maintains an environment that produces a service that is efficient, competent and professional.
• Administers medication.
• Provides classroom education and health counseling.
• Manages supplies and controls expenses.

Qualifications

• Education Program Graduate, Nursing (Required)
• Bachelor’s Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
• Experience: 1 year experience in well care or community health setting (Required), 1 year classroom teaching (Preferred)
• Licenses and Certifications: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required), CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)

Pay

Hiring range is $23.90 - $31.10 hourly. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
