School Nurse – Flexible PRN Schedule
About the Role
Fork Union Military Academy, an all-boys boarding school in central Virginia near Charlottesville, Richmond, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, is seeking a PRN School Registered Nurse to provide direct nursing care to cadets. This part-time position requires excellent assessment skills, strong communication, multitasking, and attention to detail. Care coordination with medical professionals, school faculty and staff, and cadet families is essential.
Schedule
At a minimum, the PRN Nurse will cover two 24-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts per month while school is in session. Additional coverage may include:
- Help at check-ins
- Shift coverage when a nurse is sick
- Shift coverage when a nurse takes PTO
Requirements
- Valid Virginia nursing license (BSN preferred)
- Current CPR certification
- At least 5 years of recent experience in primary care, medical-surgical, ER, ICU, or trauma
