School Nurse
About the role
The post offers an opportunity for a School Nurse with a postgraduate Specialist Community Public Health (School Nursing) qualification to join NHS Forth Valley's evolving School Nursing Team.
Responsibilities
- Function as an independent practitioner providing a safe, person-centred, and effective school health service.
- Work in partnership with children, young people, families, care providers, and other agencies to deliver a culturally sensitive service.
- Deliver the ten national priority pathways as set by the Scottish Government.
- Manage a caseload and delegate tasks to family support workers as necessary.
- Provide an open-access service in various settings including home, education, community, and primary care.
- Ensure the health needs of the local population are addressed through a healthy lifestyle promotion program.
Requirements
- First-level registered nurse qualification.
- Postgraduate Specialist Community Public Health School Nursing qualification.
- Working knowledge of child protection systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the service area.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a postgraduate Specialist Community Public Health School Nursing qualification.
Skills
Proficiency in delivering the ten national priority pathways, cultural sensitivity, and strong communication skills are essential.

NHS Forth Valley may offer sponsorship for certain roles, provided the post meets the minimum salary threshold and other required criteria. Transitional arrangements may apply for those currently working on a Skilled Worker visa.
Pay
The pay will not be affected due to the reduction in the full-time working week from 37 to 36 hours per week, with a corresponding increase in the hourly rate.
Schedule
The full-time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week, with part-time hours reduced pro-rata.
