About the role
This is a full-time, ten (10) month position. The Professional School Nurse will coordinate and assess all health issues relevant to Lions Learning Academy, ensuring compliance with Georgia State laws. They will serve as the primary contact for all health-related issues and assist in achieving the school’s mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees daily individual medical care of students at Lions Learning Academy
- Manages daily medications required by students
- Collaborates with special education teachers and support staff to address the health-related needs of students with disabilities
- Participates in student meetings and provides input on health-related goals and accommodations
- Maintains a comforting, clean, orderly, and nurturing clinic for ill students
- Maintains accurate and confidential health records for students
- Communicates regularly with parents or guardians regarding students' health status
- Collaborates with families to gather information on medical history and ensure a comprehensive understanding of each student's health needs
- Collaborates with healthcare providers to ensure necessary medical services
- Coordinates with occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other specialists to address the unique health-related challenges of students
- Efficiently communicates suspicion of neglect or abuse to the Principal
- Maintains up-to-date CPR certifications and training of faculty and staff
- Effectively maintains supply inventory for clinics on all campuses
- Affords assistance in promoting programs on health education and immunization
- Maintains health equipment (i.e., thermometers, AED machines, etc.)
- Maintains and manages all health records of students and staff and ensures that they are up to date
- Audits students’ health records annually
- Stays current with local, state, and federal regulations related to school health services and special education
- Maintains confidentiality of individual student health status
- Provides emergency aid to students and school staff

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
