Essential Functions
- Aid in the preparation and serving of attractive, high quality, nutritious, cost-effective meals according to standardized procedures.
- Complete tasks within the allocated time frame.
- Comply with approved safety and sanitation procedures.
- Clean kitchen, equipment, tables, and storeroom as scheduled by the Manager or her/his designee.
- Report any equipment malfunctions to the Manager to ensure safe working conditions.
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans, and operate the dish machine.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Relieve or assist other unit employees as necessary to maintain the operation of the kitchen unit or as assigned by the Manager and her/his designee.
Other Functions
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Read and write English.
- Compute and apply basic mathematical calculations.
- Follow instructions and use fundamentals of meal preparation following approved safety and sanitation procedures.
- Speak and write effectively and communicate with students, staff, and public in a courteous and professional manner.
- Be willing to learn and follow procedures, policies, and requirements of the Culinary Services program.
Typical Qualifications
- Possess a valid Food Handler's Permit.
- Stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Lift up to 35 lbs.
- Carry, push, stoop, reach, and handle and perform fingering functions.
- Shift tasks and priorities.
- Experience frequent interruptions.
- Requires flexibility and adaptability.
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Able to communicate with students and adults in some difficult situations.
- Available to work at any location on an on-call basis.
- Hours will vary depending on assignment.
- Accrue sick leave at the rate of 1:40 per the Washington Paid Sick Leave law; eligible for health benefits after 630 hours under conditions of the School Employees Benefits Board through the state of Washington.
