SCHOOL COUNSELOR, K-12

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our student support services team at North Valley Academy in Gooding, Idaho. The School Counselor will provide essential guidance, counseling, and support to K-12 students, promoting their academic success, personal growth, and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to create a positive and nurturing school environment.
• Develop and implement comprehensive school counseling programs that align with student needs and school goals.
• Assist students in college and career planning, including course selection, college applications, and scholarship opportunities.
• Identify and address barriers to student success, including mental health concerns, family issues, or learning challenges.
• Coordinate and facilitate workshops, presentations, and interventions for students, staff, and families.
• Maintain confidential records and documentation in compliance with ethical and legal standards.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
• Valid Idaho State Certification or eligibility for certification as a School Counselor.
• Experience working in a K-12 school setting, preferably in a counseling or student support role.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of counseling techniques, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school community.
