School Cleaner

About This Role

The Ralph Waldo Emerson School for Preschoolers is seeking an energetic, self-directed, and dependable individual to assist with after-school or before-school cleaning. Responsibilities include regular cleaning and sanitizing of three classrooms, four bathrooms, hallways, lobbies, and offices.

Responsibilities

• Follow daily and weekly cleaning and sanitation plans.
• Clean and re-supply restrooms.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
• Keep workstations and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order.

Requirements

• Physical activities required, including reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting up to approximately 50 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 20 pounds.
• Two or more years of cleaning experience preferred.
