School Bus/Van Driver

About the role

We are seeking a part-time Bus Driver to transport students to and from multiple programs. Successful candidates will have an understanding of and appreciation for girls' education.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus or other designated vehicle to transport students along assigned routes, adhering to a strict schedule and ensuring timely arrival at designated stops.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and functionality.
• Enforce safety regulations for students entering, exiting, and traveling on the bus; perform emergency evacuations when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and well-maintained bus, including fueling and basic upkeep; report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems.
• Supervise students during boarding, disembarking, and while on the bus; enforce rules, maintain discipline, and report behavioral issues to school administrators.
• Assist students with disabilities, including those who use wheelchairs, ensuring their safe boarding and seating arrangements.
• Communicate with school faculty, staff, and transportation personnel regarding student behavior, routes, and other relevant information.
• Provide excellent customer service to students and their families.
• Complete required paperwork, such as route sheets, time cards, and accident reports.
• Attend training sessions to stay updated on safety regulations and best practices.
• Assist with loading and unloading equipment, school bags, or other items as required.

Requirements

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (e.g., school bus, passenger).
• Clean driving record.
• Pass a background check, physical exam, and drug test.
• Experience driving a bus or large vehicle (preferred).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain discipline and manage student behavior.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
