About the role
We are seeking a part-time Bus Driver to transport students to and from multiple programs. Successful candidates will have an understanding of and appreciation for girls' education.
Responsibilities
- Operate a school bus or other designated vehicle to transport students along assigned routes, adhering to a strict schedule and ensuring timely arrival at designated stops.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and functionality.
- Enforce safety regulations for students entering, exiting, and traveling on the bus; perform emergency evacuations when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and well-maintained bus, including fueling and basic upkeep; report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems.
- Supervise students during boarding, disembarking, and while on the bus; enforce rules, maintain discipline, and report behavioral issues to school administrators.
- Assist students with disabilities, including those who use wheelchairs, ensuring their safe boarding and seating arrangements.
- Communicate with school faculty, staff, and transportation personnel regarding student behavior, routes, and other relevant information.
- Provide excellent customer service to students and their families.
- Complete required paperwork, such as route sheets, time cards, and accident reports.
- Attend training sessions to stay updated on safety regulations and best practices.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment, school bags, or other items as required.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (e.g., school bus, passenger).
- Clean driving record.
- Pass a background check, physical exam, and drug test.
- Experience driving a bus or large vehicle (preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain discipline and manage student behavior.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
