School Bus Driver

Purpose

Safely transport students to and from school, activities, and field trips while ensuring student safety, following established routes and district policies, and maintaining assigned vehicles.

Assigned Administrator

Essential Duties

• Safely operate a school bus on assigned routes and field trips.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain student safety and appropriate behavior during transportation.
• Auxiliary assistance with loading, unloading, and emergency evacuations when needed.
• Maintain required records, including mileage, inspections, incidents, and student counts.
• Communicate with parents, school staff, and transportation personnel regarding routes, schedules, and student concerns.
• Fuel and keep assigned bus clean and in safe operating condition.
• Attend required meetings, trainings, and certification updates.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous job-related experience preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus Driver Certification.
• CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain).
• Successful completion of required background check, drug screening, physical, and applicable district clearances.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of safe driving practices, traffic laws, and student transportation procedures.
• Ability to safely operate a school bus, communicate effectively, maintain accurate records, and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
