Job Summary

School Bus Drivers play a vital role in the Lake Washington School District, ensuring the safe transportation of students. As the first and last District employees our students encounter each day, drivers responsibly provide transportation for regular routes, field trips, and other activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and security of all students and staff during transportation.
• Operate school buses safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
• Load and unload students and equipment in a timely manner, ensuring that all necessary items are present and accounted for.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members regarding transportation issues.
• Maintain bus cleanliness and ensure that all safety equipment is functioning properly.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance driving skills and knowledge of district policies.

Requirements

• Valid Washington State driver's license.
• Pass a background check.
• Pass a drug screening.
• Pass a physical examination.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Pass a motor vehicle record check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience operating a school bus.
• Experience working with children.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Skills

• Knowledge of school bus safety procedures.
