School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Strides Therapy & Educational Services is a leading local provider of contracted therapy services dedicated to enhancing students' educational experience in schools. We are a therapist- and woman-owned and operated company seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team, working collaboratively to support students' communication and language development in educational settings.
About the role
As a School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome communication challenges, improve their speech and language skills, and achieve their educational goals. Your expertise will be essential in promoting students' overall success and well-being in the school environment.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate speech and language functions through comprehensive and appropriate evaluations according to MARSE Standards, District Guidelines, and ASHA Guidelines.
- Provide a complete diagnostic summary report, including a summary of the evaluation information.
- Maintain communication with parents and other relevant team members.
- Document student progress through specific objectives and long-term goals.
- Complete Medicaid billing services efficiently, comprehensively, and in a timely manner.
- Participate in building designated teams to provide pre-referral interventions.
- Make referrals for further evaluation when appropriate.
- Provide direct services related to expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language.
- Plan and provide services for students identified as speech and language impaired.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Speech & Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Valid full Michigan License in Speech and Language Pathology (or willing to obtain).
- Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC); Clinical Fellows (CFs) can be considered.
- Current LARA licensure.
- Must reside within 40 minutes of the school district (in-person only).
- Strong understanding of standardized and informal assessment strategies related to communication disorders.
- Confidence in conducting comprehensive speech and language evaluations.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- MI State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (if applicable).
- Educator Certificate (if applicable).
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA unless a CF.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in private practice or outpatient settings preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance billing and documentation practices is a plus.
- Dedication to providing culturally competent and client-centered care.
