About the role

The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) is an official university-level research center at Texas State University. The TxSSC is tasked in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code and the Governor’s Homeland Security Strategic Plan with key school safety initiatives and mandates. The TxSSC serves as the clearinghouse for the dissemination of safety and security information through research, training, and technical assistance for K-12 schools and junior colleges throughout the state of Texas. As a result, Texas has become a national leader in school safety practices and is relied upon for assistance and guidance from jurisdictions throughout the nation. The TxSSC is seeking candidates that are highly experienced in the field of school-based law enforcement and school safety and are interested in having a positive impact on the safety and security of Texas schools.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Texas School Safety Center mission and vision.
  • Develop and deliver training curriculum materials on school-based law enforcement safety planning to be delivered through multiple modes of dissemination (e.g., on-site training/presentations, web, educational videos, manuals, etc.).
  • Research best practices in school-based law enforcement and safety planning to inform training curriculum.
  • Review and evaluate planning material to ensure compliance with both state and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures relative to school emergency management and operational continuity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or TCOLE Master’s Proficiency Certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience in development of training curriculum.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering training presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Public or Charter K-12 School Based Law Enforcement.
  • Demonstrated excellent writing skills.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrate experience working as School Based Law Enforcement, TCOLE Instructor Certificate, Demonstrated experience working as Law Enforcement.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of school-based law enforcement and safety planning.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to research and evaluate best practices.
  • Proficient in using various modes of training dissemination.

Benefits

This position is based in San Marcos, TX. If selected for an interview, it will be conducted in person.

Pay

$5,481.00 – $6,250.00 monthly

Schedule

Normal Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Normal Work Hours Start: 8:00AM
Normal Work Hours End: 5:00PM
