Operating within the Monarch Center for Autism, the Director of Community Education heads a robust team of educational professionals delivering specialized services to students at the Monarch School. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Monarch School, this role coordinates educational programming in accordance with the Monarch Model, Individualized Education Plans, and stakeholder expectations.
Responsibilities
- Organize and manage systems for delivering excellent educational programming for students of the Monarch School Community Education Program.
- Ensure educational service delivery aligns with Individualized Education Plans, adheres to the principles of the Monarch Model, and coordinates with other services.
- Provide guidance and direct operational/educational support to Intervention Specialists, Instructional Assistants, and other stakeholders within the Community Education program.
- Identify problems and provide immediate, impactful solutions for the needs of all stakeholders (employees, students, and families).
- Respond to crisis situations within the program environment, providing in-the-moment modeling, instruction, and ongoing training with clinical integrity and crisis management skills.
- Participate in and aid the development of ongoing trainings, initial employee on-boarding, and personnel development initiatives in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide modeling, feedback, and guidance to staff on behavior plans, educational goals, and treatment planning aligned with evidence-based practices.
- Oversee daily operations, including staff attendance, schedules, data collection, documentation, and other program needs.
- Lead strategic planning efforts for community education to ensure ongoing quality improvement across all operational domains.
- Provide administrative supervision, including hiring, supervision, evaluation, disciplinary actions, and termination of employees.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards governing educational service delivery for community students.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process and manage operations to achieve financial goals.
- Ensure symbiotic service coordination with the broader Monarch School, fostering collaboration and mission alignment.
- Participate in training and development of the Monarch Model and data/outcomes management system.
- Oversee curriculum development and assessment for community students.
- Work with staff on Individualized Education Plan development, review, and implementation.
- Ensure data collected by staff is correct, complete, and prompt.
- Participate in parent meetings, staffings, IEPs, and other clinical discussions.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through timely documentation.
- Utilize Safety Care procedures, including demonstrating proficiency in Safety Care training and the Two-Person Stability Hold.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training.
- Maintain current certifications, licensure, and adherence to ethical and professional conduct standards.
- Respect client privacy and handle all client-related documents confidentially.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Education (Bachelor’s Degree required).
- Ohio Teaching Certification required; Intervention Specialist license preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience teaching children with autism strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience working with families, school districts, and supportive agencies strongly preferred.
- Pass Safety Care Core Curriculum, including written exam, full training duration, role plays, and demonstration of competencies up to and including the Two-Person Stability Hold.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally while working with students and staff.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Proficiency in crisis management and active problem-solving with prompt decision-making.
