About the role

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Programs at Frelinghuysen Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children in the program.
  • Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
  • Certain positions may also perform management functions such as accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required.
  • Successfully pass all required state background checks.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
  • Demonstrate a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Consistent record of reliability and punctuality.

Pay

$16.00 per hour

Schedule

  • Follows the school calendar.
  • Morning Program: 7:30 – 8:30 am
  • Afternoon Program: 3:15 – 6:15 pm
  • Opportunities available for morning, afternoon, or both programs.

Position is part-time and non-exempt.
