Scheduler Surgery- Pre Admission Center- FT- 1st Shift
About the role
The OR Scheduler is responsible for scheduling elective surgical procedures for the operating room, endoscopy, and anesthesia-only cases outside of the operating room, excluding labor and delivery at Women’s and Children and the cath lab. Additional duties include assisting physicians and staff as needed, ensuring effective communication, maintaining a safe and orderly office environment, and helping orient new staff.
Responsibilities
- Schedule elective surgical procedures for the operating room, endoscopy, and anesthesia-only cases outside the OR (excluding labor and delivery and cath lab).
- Assist physicians and staff as necessary.
- Provide effective communication across teams and departments.
- Maintain a safe and orderly office environment.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff members.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of experience in a secretarial, receptionist, or customer service role required; medical-related experience preferred.
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to operate communication systems (telephones, fax machines).
- Strong customer service orientation, including the ability to communicate effectively in English with diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to delegate, follow up on problem-solving, and adapt to stressful or rapidly changing environments.
