About the role

The Pharmacy service population varies from birth to elder adults. The Scheduler/Shipping Clerk assists the pharmacist in various activities such as preparing patient, physician, and nursing education, retrieving drug information, calculating creatinine clearance, and managing the logistics of the telehealth program.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the pharmacist in the preparation of patient, physician, and nursing education.
  • Retrieves accurate, concise, applicable, and timely drug information.
  • Calculates creatinine clearance in appropriate patients.
  • Supports management by effectively managing time, tasks, and resources.
  • Manages own conduct, performance, and attitude, including ethics, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Participates in implementing department and facility goals and objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or scheduled.

Requirements

  • A High School or GRE Graduate.
  • Pharmacy Technician license preferred.
  • Pharmacy technician program certification required (will be trained if applicant is conscientious and communicates a desire to learn).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • An aptitude for working with other health care professionals.

Qualifications

  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable stationary work or work that requires movement throughout the facility.
  • Lifts, pushes, or transports medication carts or IV fluid carts occasionally.
  • Reads for long periods of time.
  • Uses computers, modems, Telxon, calculators, adding machines, and pharmaceutical scales.
  • Has an alert mind to minimize human error.
  • May travel throughout the hospital and work at computer terminals.
  • Provides evidence of good health according to hospital policy.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time and tasks effectively.
  • Good organizational skills.
