HPM is seeking a Schedule Manager to lead all schedule management, analysis, and control support for assigned projects and programs. This role ensures strategic and tactical support is provided to project teams and clients throughout the full project lifecycle, including travel up to 25% of the time.
About the role
The Schedule Manager will analyze construction schedules, develop master program schedules, perform delay analysis, and implement best practices for scheduling requirements in contract documents. Responsibilities include monitoring schedule risk, providing reporting to project teams, producing recovery schedule recommendations, and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve schedule issues.
Responsibilities
- Establish the schedule management program and deliverables for large-scale capital projects and programs (tools, technology, processes, and procedures).
- Provide support to project teams to manage the owner schedule, including setup in the management system, detailed analysis, and reporting.
- Develop master program schedules using comparable construction project data and current material lead-time information, including detailed construction schedule development when required.
- Assist in project planning by developing schedule scenarios and comparisons.
- Implement scheduling best practices and specifications into contract documents.
- Oversee and conduct detailed technical analysis of schedules from designers, contractors, and others to identify risks, issues, and mitigation plans.
- Perform earned value analysis for construction progress monitoring and forecasting.
- Identify and track key metrics to measure progress and schedule performance.
- Support cash flow projections, if required.
- Develop and implement robust data analytics and reporting programs, including cost-loaded and resource-loaded schedules.
- Support the development of project control and execution plans for individual projects and programs.
- Supervise schedule control efforts, including guidance on the schedule management system, preparation of report templates, and issuance of monthly Schedule and Change Management reports.
- Validate and report on schedule performance against the baseline, highlight bottlenecks/delays, and propose corrective actions.
- Identify schedule improvement strategies to reduce time and support on-time project completion.
- Establish and ensure adherence to a standard HPM Work Breakdown Structure for consistent data capture in reporting and analytics.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for scheduling software and tools (e.g., SmartPM, Sitetraxx, P6, Microsoft Project, PowerBI, Office Timeline).
- Provide forensic analysis for claims defense or mitigation.
- Review schedules for progress, warning signs, critical path, and alignment between cost and schedule.
- Support review and validation of contractor pay requests from a progress standpoint.
- Support review and validation of contractor change requests involving time impacts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, Building Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- 3–7 years of project management or control solutions experience on major projects and programs.
- Experience with Procore or other project management information systems.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Microsoft Teams.
- Experience with databases (MS Access), Power BI, and dashboard development (preferred).
- Experience with SmartPM.
- Proficiency in CPM scheduling using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Experience in a consultancy or owner organization (an asset).
- Ability to adapt to evolving procedures and work under pressure to meet critical deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
- Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with frequent public contact and interruptions.
- Requires standing or sitting for prolonged periods, occasional stooping/bending/kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Involves repetitive hand movement for computer keyboard use and fine coordination.
- Requires travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation.
- Requires normal visual and audio range (with or without correction).
