Position Summary

A skilled craftsperson responsible for constructing, assembling and installing scenic elements for theatrical production utilizing various materials and techniques to ensure quality and safety. They are involved in the installation, rigging and strike of these elements. The position assists in the supervision of student crews and workers and may assist other production areas as needed. They report to the Scene Shop Manager and the Technical Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Scenic Carpentry with both wood and metal fabrication.
  • Scenic painting.
  • Student worker supervision.
  • Soft Goods Construction.
  • Properties Construction.
  • Tool Repair and Maintenance.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BFA in Technical Theatre or related field.
  • 1+year of professional experience.
  • Wood and metals construction experience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
