About the role
MTSI is seeking to hire a Scene Generation Modeling and Simulation Engineer to design and develop high-fidelity, physics-based scene generation models for ballistic, hypersonic and air-breathing missile threat systems, in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Advanced Capabilities directorate.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-fidelity, physics-based scene generation models for ballistic, hypersonic and air-breathing missile threat systems.
- Specialize in modeling the missile exhaust plume flowfields, kinematics and radiative signatures across the EO/IR spectrums that will support the performance testing of the Missile Defense System (MDS).
- Experience with industry-standard radiation transport codes (e.g., OSC, MODTRAN), government scene generation tools (FLITES), and/or missile exhaust plume flowfield and radiation transport codes (e.g. SPURC, SPF).
- Knowledge of electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor modeling and simulation.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python for scientific computing and model development.
Requirements
- US Citizenship and a secret level security clearance.
- B.S. in Aerospace or other field of Engineering, Physics or a related STEM field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in modeling and simulation.
- Experience with parallel computing or GPU acceleration (e.g., CUDA).
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
Skills
- Strong background in aerospace or physics principles.
- Direct experience in complex scene generation, with a specialized focus on exhaust plume phenomenology.
- Experience with industry-standard radiation transport codes (e.g., OSC, MODTRAN).
- Government scene generation tools (FLITES).
- Missile exhaust plume flowfield and radiation transport codes (e.g. SPURC, SPF).
- Knowledge of electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor modeling and simulation.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python for scientific computing and model development.
