About the role

MTSI is seeking to hire a Scene Generation Modeling and Simulation Engineer to design and develop high-fidelity, physics-based scene generation models for ballistic, hypersonic and air-breathing missile threat systems, in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Advanced Capabilities directorate.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-fidelity, physics-based scene generation models for ballistic, hypersonic and air-breathing missile threat systems.
  • Specialize in modeling the missile exhaust plume flowfields, kinematics and radiative signatures across the EO/IR spectrums that will support the performance testing of the Missile Defense System (MDS).
  • Experience with industry-standard radiation transport codes (e.g., OSC, MODTRAN), government scene generation tools (FLITES), and/or missile exhaust plume flowfield and radiation transport codes (e.g. SPURC, SPF).
  • Knowledge of electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor modeling and simulation.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python for scientific computing and model development.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship and a secret level security clearance.
  • B.S. in Aerospace or other field of Engineering, Physics or a related STEM field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with parallel computing or GPU acceleration (e.g., CUDA).

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.

Skills

  • Strong background in aerospace or physics principles.
  • Direct experience in complex scene generation, with a specialized focus on exhaust plume phenomenology.
  • Experience with industry-standard radiation transport codes (e.g., OSC, MODTRAN).
  • Government scene generation tools (FLITES).
  • Missile exhaust plume flowfield and radiation transport codes (e.g. SPURC, SPF).
  • Knowledge of electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor modeling and simulation.
