SCADA Specialist II
About the role
The SCADA Specialist II will design, build, and maintain specialized systems regulated by PHMSA to monitor and control operations and processes of the Company's pipeline system(s). This includes SCADA assets in control rooms, backup control rooms, compressor stations, LNG plants, and throughout the pipeline and distribution system(s).
Responsibilities
- Maintains and deploys SCADA systems and develops/update SCADA Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens in accordance with Control Room Management Plan and PHMSA/API requirements.
- Maintains and deploys computers and servers while overseeing the entire SCADA System(s) infrastructure.
- Maintains and deploys network devices; troubleshoots and updates device Operating System and/or CISCO configurations to maintain compliance and uphold cyber security practices.
- Evaluates releases of all software utilized through the SCADA System(s), adds drivers to communicate to specific Remote Terminal Unit (RTUs), manages software version and updates as needed, especially to maintain or improve cyber security posture keeping Operational Technology and Information Technology separate and secure.
- Reads PFDs (Piping Flow Diagrams), P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and network flow diagrams for SCADA architecture.
- Troubleshoots Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Modbus, Open Platform Communications (OPC), and network communication to ensure field data flows through communication tunnels within the SCADA network.
- Programs and updates scripting logic that controls and monitors industrial processes at field sites.
- Assists in developing, writing, and maintaining all Standard Operating Procedures, related to SCADA operations.
- Provides recommendations to leadership on upgrades or replacement of various hardware or other infrastructure to improve the system reliability of the SCADA System(s) to include replacements for end of life devices.
- Performs data analysis of events or processes to help identify and make automation suggestions to resolve and prevent future issues.
- Supports procedures for emergencies and troubleshoots when issues arise; make suggestions on temporary changes such as alarm limit parameters until full remediation of issue has occurred.
- Occasionally performs initial program load for a new RTU or other operations support tasks as needed.
- Reviews and provides feedback for change controls that may have an impact to the SCADA network.
Requirements
Associate’s in Computer Science, Information Technology or Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering
Three (3) years’ experience in any of the following: Automation Engineering, Process Control Programming Languages, SCADA Systems and HMI Development, Networking and Configuration
Standard driver’s license
Software-specific certification/training such as SCADA, Kepware, AES/ACM, Talon, FlowCal, etc.
PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA (Control Systems), Telemetry Data (Real-time and Historical), Networking, OT, ICS, SCADA Cybersecurity, Cisco configuration and commands, Active Directory and Windows OS, Programming and Scripting logic, processes to obtain data in Real-time from remote devices in order to control equipment and condition of field assets
Excellent communication and organizational skills, strong problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiencies and finding new solutions, highly technical role
