SCADA Programming Technician
HF Sinclair Midstream located in Tulsa, OK is seeking a SCADA Programming Technician. This position conducts mid to high-level hardware/software field assignments for the Pipeline SCADA department under minimal supervision. May direct or lead the work of others from time-to-time.
Responsibilities
- Develops and designs control systems for pipeline/terminal control
- Programs PLCs for the design and implementation of Windows-based software
- Maintains and programs PLCs and field HMIs
- Designs and sets up network structures for field communication
- Conducts communication testing for field sites
- Develops system application specifications utilizing business knowledge and tests developed programs to ensure proper functionality and implementation
- Establishes processes to resolve problems and provides top-tier support to system operators and field personnel on the use of field SCADA systems
- Develops and maintains system documentation, and documents current field site network configuration and user requirements
- Provides Communication (SAT) PLC Programming, Wonderware and/or ClearSCADA software maintenance, and the upkeep of field server and data
- Relocates technical equipment to and from an assigned location
- Works with all departments and 3rd party companies concerning SCADA
- Assists I&E group with troubleshooting field issues
- Handles special assignments or tasks assigned by their superior
- May manage contractors and supplier representatives
Requirements
- A minimum of three years of on-the-job experience is required
- Control operations experience is preferred
- Mid-level knowledge of PLC programming, pipeline and/or terminal software, and ability to apply this knowledge to pipeline and/or terminal operations and technology
- Working knowledge of DOT safety rules and regulations
- Good organizational, time-management, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Experience with VSAT communication, Telvent OaSys DNA SCADA software, PLC equipment, Juniper network equipment, Wonderware Intouch software, ClearSCADA software, Top Tech software, Telvent Guardian software
- Basic reading and writing skills
Qualifications
- A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience is required
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications or related field is preferred
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PLC 9030/VersaMax hardware and Proficy Machine Edition
- Knowledge/experience with Top Tech TMS 6 and/or Telvent Guardian software
Work Conditions
- Office and field-based with up to 50% travel by land and air required
- Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, outdoors environment, and driver-based environment including exposure to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, loud noises, vibrations, confined spaces, and risk of electrical shock
- Subject to all temperatures including outdoors, weather, and varying road conditions
