What To Expect The Gigafactory Nevada Industrial and Systems Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) engineer to contribute to the design and development of SCADA systems. The primary responsibility of this role is design, development, and maintenance of the SCADA platform and its support data systems used to manage production and operations factory-wide. A successful candidate will have both theoretical and hands-on experience in a factory production environment, process optimization, UI design, and data engineering. What You'll Do Design and enhance SCADA systems to monitor and optimize manufacturing operations Collaborate with project managers and controls/manufacturing teams to define system requirements and specifications, leveraging data insights to inform decisions Integrate SCADA with other manufacturing systems (e.g., DCS, MES, FX, historians) Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to SCADA, data, SQL queries, and Python scripts to minimize production downtime Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials Provide technical support, training, and guidance to operations and maintenance teams Serve as the primary point of contact for users, addressing day-to-day support and advocating system adoption while monitoring overall system health Proactively identify improvement opportunities across manufacturing systems, developing tools that allow for visibility into bottlenecks and inconsistencies What You'll Bring Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience in Data, Controls, or Software Engineering or related field Hands-on experience designing, implementing, or maintaining SCADA/PLC systems Proficiency with at least one major SCADA platform (e.g., Ignition by Inductive Automation, AVEVA Wonderware, Siemens, or Rockwell) Proficiency in script-based programming (Python, Go, and SQL) Strong understanding of SQL, databases and data management Experience with PLC programming (ladder logic, function blocks, structured text) and HMI development Experience with agentic/AI tooling and development The ability to work independently as well as collaborate well across diverse teams Proficiency in React or related frontend framework/libraries Benefits Compensation and Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program , Tesla
