Saw Operator

ARC Fabricators is looking for a Saw Operator to join our team.

About the role

Operate metal fabricating machines such as saws, forming machines, rolls, brakes, presses, and punches to cut, shape, and bend rolled metal.

Responsibilities

• Adjust machine to material and finished product requirements.
• Feed metal into fabrication machine.
• Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
• Assure product quality by adjusting machine to remove burrs and sharp edges from material.
• Report machine and product quality issues to supervisors.
• Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines and dies.
• Complete production records on finished goods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Metal fabrication experience, preferably in saw, shear/brake, and roll-forming or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mechanical experience with hand tools (e.g., saws, hacksaws, tin snips) preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide inches and pounds using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and understand tape measurers and calculators.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand.
• Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

• Exposed to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and heat (proper PPE & safety training will be provided).
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Pay

$18.00 – $21.00 per hour depending on experience.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM. Opportunity for overtime is available.
