Saves Assistant Part-Time
Responsibilities
- Support food distributions, organize warehouse inventory and supplies, assist clients, coordinate volunteers, and support community programs and special events.
- Provide clients access to food, transportation, and shelter.
- Screen and qualify clients for food and shelter vouchers; refer clients to other agencies as appropriate.
- Compile and tabulate statistical records of activities; prepare routine statistical reports.
- Clean and maintain the physical area containing food and supplies; assist in unloading food and supplies from delivery vehicles.
- Maintain food inventory on computer.
- Assign work to volunteers as necessary.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of: Basic principles and practices of social service programs; modern office practices, methods, procedures and computer equipment; English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; principles and practices of assigning work to volunteers.
- Ability To: Learn about community organizations and resources available to those in need of emergency services; physically move and lift food and supplies related to the program; assign and review the work of volunteers; learn and apply pertinent City and program policies and procedures; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; maintain basic program statistics and records, prepare routine reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Experience: One year of social service experience including clerical duties is preferred. Experience working / volunteering in a food bank environment is preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or G. E. D.

Pay
The full salary range for this position is $25.21 to $32.18. The expected hiring range is $25.21-$27.80.
Schedule
The SAVES Assistant works a flexible schedule, typically from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday – Thursday, with additional hours as needed. The position also requires working weekends and holidays, and occasional overtime. Positions may require travel, but it is rare.
