About the role

T.F. O’Brien is seeking a Lead HVAC Service Technician to join our dynamic team. This position offers competitive weekly pay, benefits, and performance incentives, along with ongoing training to keep your skills sharp.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, and/or propose replacement of warm air furnaces, air conditioners, boilers, and water heaters.
• Troubleshoot, adapt, and resolve/repair all issues that would keep the equipment from functioning properly.
• Service and start equipment and adjust to the manufacturer’s and job specifications.
• Communicate with homeowners on the proper operation and owner’s maintenance of the equipment installed or repaired.
• Answer related questions regarding operation, features, and functions.
• Perform required documentation for each call, recording recommendations, repairs, accurate readings, and observations.
• Have the customers sign the necessary paperwork and collect payments as directed.
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance, respecting customers’ homes by using protective gear (drop cloths, shoe covers, etc.).
• Provide honest recommendations for system upgrades, replacements, or indoor air quality products to improve customer comfort and safety.
• Mentor apprentices or junior technicians when needed, sharing technical knowledge and company standards.
• Collaborate with dispatchers, customer service representatives, and other technicians to ensure seamless communication and timely service.
• Perform seasonal tune-ups, preventive maintenance, and efficiency checks to extend equipment lifespan and prevent breakdowns.

Requirements

• Physically able to work on HVAC units.
• Will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on the time of year.
• Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crawling, or climbing ladders.
• A minimum of 4 years of driving experience is required and be over the age of 21.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in HVAC service and repair.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

Skills

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in HVAC systems and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
