Saturday Counselor

Responsibilities

• Affirms structured activities for children and ensures they are age and ability appropriate.
• Assists in the well-being and safety of children in two Saturday recreation programs focused on recreation and social skills for children with autism.
• Organizes assigned groups and participates in swim activities.
• Maintains behavior management in homeroom and special areas.
• Maintains a safe environment for children and accounts for their whereabouts at all times.
• Creates homeroom activities in case of special area cancellations or when no special activity is scheduled.
• Maintains open communication with parents, offering support and encouragement.
• Reports all incidents to the Nurse and Program Coordinator or designee.
• Performs additional related responsibilities as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Prior experience working with children with developmental disabilities.
• Physical abilities may include lifting and transferring of a child/adult.
