About the Role

This position performs cold prep and pantry duties, prepares menu items, serves in satellite service areas, operates a cash register, and maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment. The role begins in October 2026.

Responsibilities

• Performs cold prep and pantry duties, including following recipes to prepare salads, cold sandwiches, vegetables, meat, cheese, relish, cookies, and fruit trays.
• Prepares menu items for deli, grill, and cafeteria service according to standardized recipes and policy:
  • Prepares sandwiches, charbroils meats to specified doneness, and maintains salads for the cafeteria salad bar.
  • Prepares cold meats, vegetables, sandwiches, and salads for satellites and the main cafeteria.
  • Prepares breakfast items, popcorn, and ice cream according to standardized recipes.
• Serves customers in the Satellite Services area courteously and promptly, using portion control and maintaining a neat, orderly serving line.
• Maintains and safely uses food service equipment, including disassembly and reassembly for cleaning, and ensures equipment is sanitary.
• Handles and stores food safely and sanitarily:
  • Maintains safe food temperatures using a thermometer.
  • Stores food according to department policy and maintains a sanitary workstation.
  • Adheres to personal hygiene and dress code policies.
• Operates the cash register:
  • Counts and verifies starting cash amount daily.
  • Enters transactions by designated category (e.g., cash, employee meals, patient charges).
  • Maintains register security and notifies supervisor of errors.
  • Counts cash at the end of each shift according to policy.
• Provides prompt and courteous service:
  • Greets customers in a friendly manner and ensures registers are manned during operating hours.
  • Completes transactions within one minute of purchase presentation.
  • Reports to work in a neat, clean uniform.
• Maintains accurate cash charges and financial transactions:
  • Counts cash before opening the register and requests change as needed.
  • Verifies and records free employee meals per department policy.
  • Tracks overages/shortages according to department minutes.
• Prepares the satellite service area for daily operations:
  • Prepares coffee, tea, juice, and sets up disposable goods, condiments, and other required items.
  • Prepares supply requisitions at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Sets up the menu board and point-of-sale signs for the next day’s service.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of work and cafeteria areas:
  • Rotates stock on a first-in, first-out basis.
  • Cleans all surfaces and equipment weekly or as assigned.
  • Reports spills and safety hazards promptly.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to meet department goals and objectives.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One (1) year of food preparation, cooking, and/or cashier experience is preferred.
• ServSafe Food Handler Training Certificate or another American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Food Handler Training Certificate required within 30 days of hire. Certification must be maintained during employment.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Regularly required to stand; frequently required to walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear.
• Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must move about the workspace to access work surfaces, shelves, cabinets, drawers, and equipment at, below, or above the work surface.
• Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment.
• Must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $20.00 - $29.00 per hour.
