About the Role

Performs Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) for Systems Engineering activities related to Information Technology or Network Engineering. This includes concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system and operational performance analysis, lifecycle cost analysis and estimation, decision analysis, and physical configuration analysis (PCA).

This position focuses on evaluation of Network Design and Implementation, Maintenance, Optimization, Security, and Troubleshooting/Problem Resolution. You will evaluate proposed network designs and existing network architectures, including scalable, high-performance systems. For existing networks, you will monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and analyze areas for improvement and optimization.

In network security, you will evaluate the latest security protocols, conduct risk assessments, and develop strategies to mitigate network risks. As a SETA, you will advise the customer team on network architecture, performance, and security risks.

From an information technology perspective, responsibilities may include data center floor layout, power and cooling, data storage, infrastructure management, backup, monitoring, operating systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate network design and architecture for scalability and high performance.
  • Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize operations.
  • Assess network security protocols, conduct risk assessments, and mitigate risks.
  • Advise customer teams on network architecture, performance, and security.
  • Oversee data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, storage, and automation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Utilize virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hypervisors) and cloud networking.
  • Leverage automation tools such as Ansible for efficient network management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with five (5) or more years of experience; or a Master’s degree with three (3) or more years of experience; or a PhD with related experience.
  • Experience with network protocols, hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto Networks.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Wireshark.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Pay

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate represents the typical salary range based on experience and other factors.
