Sanitation Technician

D Crew – 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM on a 2-2-3 rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Sanitize equipment, CIP systems, processing and production lines, individual pieces of equipment, and plant infrastructure.
  • Minimize product loss and sanitize drains daily.
  • Operate and maintain the floor scrubber.
  • Maintain a clean work environment while following all plant safety, USDA, SQF, and GMP guidelines.
  • Handle all record keeping and documentation reviews for sanitation programs.
  • Understand and utilize SDS (Safety Data Sheets).
  • Promote open, honest communication among team members.
  • Maintain equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Develop and follow Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for job-specific tasks.
  • Collaborate with Production, Processing, QA, and Maintenance teams to meet line performance goals.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
  • Account for and communicate MSS (Master Sanitation Schedule) program outages to relevant leaders.
  • Audit environmental cleanups during CIP for continuous improvement.
  • Track special events and perform reaction swabbing.
  • Investigate PEM (Pathogen Environmental Monitoring) outages and back up the PEM program.
  • Maintain Food Safety Plans for construction projects.
  • May be required to work additional shifts for large cleanup events or perform sanitation tasks in other areas as needed.
  • Use Process Excellence Tools daily to support continuous improvement of line results.
  • Perform all required process checks (CCP, PC, QCP, QPs) and follow reaction plans for deviations in Food Safety, Food Quality, and customer requirements.
  • Identify and understand customer requirements, ensuring proper production operation and accurate data recording on production reports.
  • Disassemble and assemble equipment as needed.
  • Lead cleanup efforts and maintain associated records and documentation.
  • Perform post-sanitation inspections, including swab and visual inspections, and enter results into EQMS.
  • Maintain and oversee sanitation MSS programs, sanitize and foaming stations.
  • Train partners (e.g., filler operators and processing partners) on effective sanitation practices.
  • Monitor and document CIP circuits (validation of CIP) and troubleshoot CIP systems.
  • Create and maintain sanitation documents and paperwork.
  • Swab, ship, record, and investigate PEM outages throughout the plant.
  • Follow written and verbal safety instructions, work procedures, and workplace communications to perform the job safely and effectively.

Requirements

  • Operate equipment to ensure proper sanitation and CIP functions of lines, tanks, and production equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • 1+ years of experience in related fields (preferred).
  • Must be able to complete and pass the required Wonderlic test.
  • Authorization to work in the country where the role is based (Schreiber may sponsor work authorization at its discretion).
