Position Summary
Essential Functions and Related Responsibilities
- Cleaning and sanitizing of the processing areas after use each day including floors, walls, ceilings, equipment and vessels.
- Disassembly and assembly of processing equipment as necessary to clean and sanitize equipment.
- Cleaning and sanitizing other common areas of the plant as assigned including processing, ovens, packaging, warehouse, breakrooms, and bathrooms, and exterior areas.
- Responsible for properly and safely using and storing sanitation chemicals and maintaining inventory.
- Serving as a backup to Janitorial personnel as needed to cover vacations and absences.
- Maintain audit readiness for SQF, Regulatory agencies, and other third-party audits by ensuring all applicable documentation is complete and accurate.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; maintaining clean/sanitary work areas; complying with legal regulations.
- Update job knowledge by participating in internal and external educational opportunities.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- A high school degree or equivalent.
- Fluent in English; good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain close attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Ability to professionally interact with co-workers, management, and outside visitors.
- Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Similar work experience and/or education.
- Prior experience with and knowledge of SQF, HACCP, SSOPs, GMP's, and COP/CIP system.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- Experience working under an SQF and/or ISO9001 or similar environment.
Physical Demands
- Average visual and hearing acuity.
- Average muscular action and body movement.
- Average upper and lower body strength required.
- Prolonged walking and standing.
- Limited lifting of 50 lbs. or less.
- Ability to work in a cool, wet environment.
Work Environment
- Moderate noise levels, as well as, the possibility of occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particulates characterize the work environment.
- Some activity near moving equipment is necessary.
- Additionally, prolonged exposure to heat or cold is possible.
