Sanitation Specialist

About the role

Morris Packaging is a manufacturer of sustainable, flexible packaging products such as bags, pouches, and rollstock. We provide end-to-end packaging solutions, including design, printing, warehousing, and logistics support. This position is a 2nd shift (2:30pm-10:30pm) role in our state-of-the-art, climate-controlled facility, with the opportunity for voluntary overtime and occasional mandatory overtime beyond the normal workday.

Responsibilities

• Performs general janitorial duties throughout the plant and attached offices.
• Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming.
• Services, cleans, and supplies restrooms.
• Mixes water and detergents to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
• Cleans indoor and outdoor windows, glass partitions, or mirrors.
• Cleans employee common areas.
• Cleans and sweeps plant aisles, driveways, yard, and parking areas.
• Picks up trash and debris in and around the plant.
• Empties all trash containers in the facility as needed.
• Stocks PPE stations throughout the facility.
• Operates a scissor lift for overhead cleaning.

Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for the full shift is required.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to effectively communicate.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and technologies.
• Ability to use all required cleaning instruments and equipment.
• Knowledge and compliance of all safety guidelines.
• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, and grasping.
• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking, listening, teaching, and repetitive hand/wrist movement.
• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) standing and walking.
• Frequent (1 to 3 hours per day) work in a stooped position.
• Good eyesight and normal hearing.
• Ability to move and lift objects, frequently up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be primarily in our climate-controlled facility. The plant floor is subject to vibration, equipment noise, and cleaning solvents leading to a loud environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and might also be exposed to outside conditions, tight spaces, cleaning solvents, and heights.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Custodial experience preferred.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $20 - $22 USD per hour (Missouri).

Schedule

This is a full-time, 2nd shift position (2:30pm-10:30pm). Days, nights, and hours may vary depending on assigned shift and production requirements. Significant overtime may be required based on business demands.
