About the role
The Sanitation Operator functions as a member of an area team directly responsible for general labor assignments within the plant, including janitorial, sanitation, forklift operation, climbing ladders, and other tasks. This role ensures efficiency, operational conformance, product quality, and continuous improvement. Sanitation Operators must have the skill set to train and/or perform the tasks of other associates in the area as needed. Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills are required to support site objectives.
Sign-on bonus: $500 after 90 days, $500 after 180 days. Internal Referral Program also available.
Responsibilities
- Performs all assigned activities and job tasks within a line or area
- Follows all lock out tag out procedures
- Maintains proper GMPs for the site
- Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Takes corrective actions in solving problems to root cause level
- Implements site and corporate Food Safety and Sanitation Initiatives
- Works in conjunction with the quality team
- Assists in managing waste and recycle streams for the site
- Participates in Food Safety inspections and reports
- Executes Master Cleaning Schedule
- Must be forklift certified or have the ability to qualify
- Operates aerial lift and material movement equipment
- Assesses equipment operating reliability and performs routine repairs, adjustments, and malfunction troubleshooting
- Performs all shift support documentation in a quality manner
- Demonstrates a high degree of ownership for product quality: performs all standard quality checks and other quality-related duties
- All associates are responsible for safety, quality, and food safety in their work area
Requirements
- Standing on a concrete floor
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)
- Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55 lbs
- Ability to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust, dirt, and chemicals
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to work in confined spaces
Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education
- Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines
- 2 years of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline
- Demonstrated competency in computer and PC software including MS Office, Google, and email
- Knowledge of inventory control principles
Pay
Salary Range: $16.75 - $19.70 USD. Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
