About the role
Tribute Baking Company is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a sanitation worker. This position involves cleaning equipment, performing sanitation tasks, and ensuring a safe and hygienic work environment.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning equipment on the weekends (shifts may vary).
- Performing sanitation cleaning within a food plant environment.
- Cleaning of office areas.
- Maintaining a flexible schedule to accommodate various shifts.
- Directly supervising the work of leaders and production associates, focusing on safety and accurate documentation.
- Ensuring that sanitation partners have all the necessary tools and equipment for their tasks.
- Carrying out random verification activities for the completion of sanitation tasks.
- Informing the sanitation supervisor of any problems or opportunities detected.
- Supervising sanitation inventories and personal protection safety weekly.
- Preparing and sending weekly inventories.
- Training new health personnel on specific cleaning tasks, tools, and the proper use of chemicals.
- Participating in cleaning tasks side by side with other sanitation employees.
- Fulfilling safety and food safety policies, good manufacturing practices, and work instructions.
- Leading and directing efforts to improve and maintain safety and cleanliness practices.
- Assisting the sanitation supervisor in directing employees according to plant regulations.
- Providing technical guidance to supervisors and employees on the proper use of protective clothing or accessories.
- Carrying out routine tours of the plant, inspecting equipment, and recommending cleaning and/or maintenance needs.
- Anticipating sanitation needs based on production schedules and coordinating tasks with the sanitation team.
- Recommending adjustments to sanitation itineraries, procedures, and practices to the cleaning supervisor.
- Filing and reviewing reports regarding inspections, sanitation violations, and corrective actions.
- Maintaining and cleaning sanitation equipment.
- Helping the plant prepare for important visits and/or inspections.
- Maintaining pest control observations.
- Maintaining and improving the quality, legality, and safety of each product and the processes used in its manufacture.
- Maintaining a clean and collected work area at all times and reporting any potential contamination or suspicious activity to the sanitation supervisor.
- Ensuring the availability and operational readiness of materials and tools before the start of activities.
- Enforcing standard sanitation procedures and inspecting areas.
- Coordinating all verification activities with quality control technicians.
- Informing the sanitation supervisor and supervisor in charge of the progress made in each department during the shift.
- Supporting BRC by maintaining food safety and quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner.
- Reporting food safety problems to a supervisor or manager.
- Working safely and responsibly at all times, following all safety policies, procedures, and rules.
- Reporting unsafe observations or conditions to the sanitation supervisor immediately.
- Immediately reporting an injury or accident to the sanitation supervisor.
- Maintaining all company requirements for training.
Requirements
- Well organized and good time management.
- Knowledge of HACCP is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of BRC standards is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, and use complete numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables concentrated in situations where standardization is limited.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word processor, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook email.
- High level of communication, cooperation, and teamwork with the production operators.
- Proficiency in English, with Spanish being preferable.
- Diploma or equivalent of high school and/or trade school, science baccalaureate preferable, but not mandatory.
- One year of relevant experience in an automated food processing plant, bakery is preferred but not mandatory.
Physical requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours) on a production floor.
- Frequent walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms for handling product, packaging, and operating equipment.
- Work in an environment with loud machinery and fast-moving conveyor belts.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, including cold storage areas below 40°F and production areas that may exceed 90°F.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with continuous movement.
- Manufacturing environment with strict adherence to work and safety rules 100% of the time.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as designated by company policies.
