About the role
Sanitation Team Members report directly to the Team Lead and department supervisor. You’ll be responsible for following all department procedures and practices, including Personal Safety and Product Safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily sanitation operations for the Distribution Facility.
- Maintain the sanitation schedule and accomplish scheduled and non-scheduled cleanings.
- Follow all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) for each machine and piece of equipment.
- Maintain inventory of chemicals and cleaning equipment.
- Follow chemical storage practices, safety, and use, including testing and recordkeeping of chemical concentrations.
- Collaborate closely with QA/QC team and Engineering to implement process improvements and work on verification and validation studies.
- Monitor production/cleaning areas to ensure machinery is sanitized properly and safety guidelines are followed.
- Inform department supervisors and QC techs once equipment is cleaned for testing of machine parts and food contact surfaces.
- Train other team members when assigned.
- Ensure safe and proper use of all machinery, personal protective equipment, and chemicals.
- Complete and fill out documentation and records logs daily.
- Manage equipment and tools properly, including storage.
- Complete assigned cleaning and job tasks within allotted times efficiently and effectively.
- Report any issues with food safety, equipment, and tasks immediately.
- Report injuries immediately to supervisor.
- Ensure all sanitation Corrective Actions are completed.
- Follow SSOPs for machines and their parts within each department.
- Oversee new sanitation equipment.
- Perform washroom and preoperational inspections.
- Control chemical safety practices and train new team members.
- Implement new sanitation equipment, provide hands-on training, and create SOPs/SSOPs for equipment, including COP and CIP cleanings.
- Clean blenders, packaging, and grinding machines.
- Maintain breakroom, cafeteria, refrigerator, and bathroom cleanliness and stocking.
- Review washroom procedures and communicate needs to other team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
In performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, dust, airborne particles, loud noises, and vibration.
Requirements
- Must be organized and detail-oriented.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be flexible to work Fridays, Sundays, and overtime if needed.
- Consumable manufacturing background is a plus.
- Food safety or food processing educational background preferred.
- Sanitation background preferred.
Pay
The pay for this role in the state of NJ is $18-22 per hour, based on position responsibilities and geographic location.
