About the Role
Join a high-energy team in beautiful Saluda, South Carolina, playing a key role in the startup of Palmetto Gourmet Foods. We produce vegetarian, halal, and kosher certified ramen noodles in a world-class production facility. This position offers the opportunity to apply your knowledge, learn new skills, and grow with a dynamic organization in a clean and safe environment. Flexibility with scheduled workdays and shift preferences is required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the facility in a food-safe condition, controlling hazards from insects, rodents, bacteria, and foreign material contamination.
- Perform custodial duties throughout the facility, including dusting, sweeping, washing, wiping, and mopping (may require climbing ladders).
- Maintain sanitary conditions by collecting and disposing of trash and debris, and cleaning up spills.
- Deep clean machines and maintain floors in the warehouse and dock area.
- Maintain parking lots and front sidewalks to uphold a professional appearance.
- Complete daily sanitation logs for documentation and evaluation of sanitation activities.
- Clean restrooms, including fixtures, countertops, mirrors, floors, and restocking paper dispensers.
- Work varying hours based on machine operation schedules.
- Ensure tidiness and cleanliness of assigned work areas and travel aisles.
- Report safety issues and repair needs to the supervisor immediately.
- Observe and enforce all safety rules to reduce accidents and injuries.
- Comply with company policies (e.g., attendance, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Associate Handbook).
- Adhere to all applicable state/federal laws, regulations, and policies (e.g., OSHA, HACCP, BRC).
- Pre-rinse, wash, and sanitize equipment per company standards.
- Verify sanitation checklists completed by team members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in food production (preferred but not required).
- Basic math and chemistry skills for measuring chemicals or diluting solutions.
- Clear understanding of how to utilize cleaning solutions.
- Ability to frequently climb ladders and stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to work in challenging conditions, including walking and standing for long hours and working in confined spaces.
- Capable of working well with a team.
