Sango Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Sango-English phone interpreter to work remotely from your home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate and concise interpretations of conversations between Sango and English speakers.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and comply with protocol to meet client expectations.
• Understand and adapt to various industries' terminology and procedures.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
• Handle emotionally and/or stressful calls with sensitivity and professionalism.

Requirements

• Fluency in Sango and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to remain detached and neutral during interpreting sessions.
• Experience in language-related fields such as teaching, translation, or interpretation preferred.
• Adaptability to LLS technology enhancements.
• At least 18 years old.
• Licensed to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write Sango and English.

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Access to a quiet space with a dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• Adequate technical skills to operate company-provided software and systems.
• Physical ability to operate a keyboard and mouse for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 26 lbs.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels.

$1.25 - $1.40 per minute.
