San Marcos 03 (McCarty Ln) Grocery - Overnight Stocker - Part time

About the role

As a Night Stocker, you'll become part of a highly-functioning team in the Grocery or Drug Store department, watching out for each other, working to meet common goals, and sharing that nighttime work lifestyle. Because you'll be stocking for a large footprint in the Store, you'll learn about multiple products and departments across the total Store. These learning opportunities will serve as a building block to many other jobs, and potentially, a career for you at H-E-B.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities and essential functions of this role include:

• Stocking shelves, refilling displays, and loading and unloading heavy, bulky products
• Conditioning shelves and products, and learning and applying product knowledge with an eye for detail
• Keeping the department clean and well-organized, including the back room and shelves
• Applying personal discipline to ensure compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and leader direction
• Ensuring federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product food safety and sanitation are met
• Working efficiently and with a team attitude, and complying with productivity standards
• Taking constructive feedback well and applying learning to future tasks
• Coaching or training other Stockers
• Providing customer service, including operating with a team mindset, learning and modeling customer service and hospitality, and assisting customers in locating products and answering product questions

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must be at least 18 years old and have experience stocking and in customer service. Preferred experience working in a physically demanding job is a plus.

• Understanding of SOPs and guidance related to emergency procedures, proper stocking, etc.
• Communication skills, reading and writing skills, organization and time-management skills, and customer service skills
• Ability to perform repetitive, physical tasks that sometimes include heavy lifting
• Ability to think on your feet and work with agility
• Ability to work as part of a team to meet nightly goals and manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks
• Ability to apply personal discipline to SOPs and leader direction
• Ability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

The physical demands and working conditions of this role vary by department, but may include:

• Constantly reaching at waist and grasping
• Frequently standing, walking, and bending
• Occasionally reaching at overhead, reaching at shoulder, reaching at knee, reaching at floor, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing stairs, pivoting, twisting, pushing and pulling with arms, pinching, and performing fine motor movements
• Occasionally being exposed to cold, loud noise, ambient temperatures, and wet conditions
• Demonstrating the ability to lift 50-86 lbs and manage in excess of 50-100 lbs, depending on the department
