Responsibilities
Performs Representative and Specialist duties as needed:
- Store Lead Operations / Training: May serve as backup to manager; typically works opposite shift to manager. In absence of Manager, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with H-E-B policies and applicable laws, to include security, and safety SOPs.
- Provides work direction and training to department Partners. Leads 2 or more Store Partners. Complies with Store operating procedures; ensures other Partners comply as well. Assists with inventory control, receiving trucks, and loads, unloads, and moves product. Merchandises products effectively. Cleans and sanitizes sales floor, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.
Customer Service:
- Provides superior customer service; stays attentive to customer needs. Addresses complaints and resolves problems. Answers customer questions regarding products and assists them with selections. Uses suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build sales.
Food Service / Food Safety / Sanitation:
- Ensures preparation of fresh food according to recipe specifications and SOPs. Ensures proper handling and temperature integrity of all ingredients, product, and equipment operation. Complies / ensures compliance with Store operating procedures and H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards. Prepares, cuts, slices, dices, chops, packages, labels, rotates, and merchandises product.
Receiving
- Receives trucks; loads, unloads, moves product; completes all paperwork; ensures compliance with receiving-related SOPs. Performs random audits determined by Loss Prevention; ensures compliance with receiving SOPs. Ensures communication of vendor stock conditions / levels to appropriate parties.
Qualifications & Key Requirements
- Age Requirement: 18+
- Work Experience: 1+ years of experience in retail, customer service, convenience, quick serve, and / or food service, or related experience leading a team - Required
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Verbal / written communication skills - Required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating / maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals - Required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence - Required. Ability to speak effectively before groups - Required. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form - Required. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations - Required. Ability to become proficient on H-E-B systems, technology, and computer skills - Required. Ability to work evenings, late night, and overnight - Required. Motivation to grow and learn with the company - Required. Ability to work opposite shifts from Manager - Required
- Education: Associate’s Degree (preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience - Required
- Licenses/Certifications: Completion of Company Orientation, Safety Training, Checker Training, AST Training, Food Safety training, and MSB Training - upon hire
- Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Function in a fast-paced, retail environment. Constantly reach at waist, grasp. Frequently stand, walk. Occasionally reach at overhead, reach at shoulder, reach at knee, reach at floor, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, stair climb, ladder climb, pivot, twist, push / pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements. Occasionally be exposed to wet, cold, ambient temperatures, and loud noise. Demonstrate the ability to lift 60 lbs, and manage in excess of 60 lbs While there may be exceptions, the measurements noted are generally defined as--Constantly: 5.5+ hours per 8-hour day; Frequently: 2.5 - 5.5 hours per 8-hour day; Occasionally: 0 - 2.5 hours per 8-hour day. It is Partners' responsibility to never lift beyond their own safe lifting limit. If an item is too heavy to lift, push or pull, and / or carry, the Partner must break the box down into lighter, smaller, more manageable components, or ask for assistance from another Partner or a manager.
