About the role
The role involves multiple manufacturing processes for Valve Seat Inserts and Valve Guides at the facility.
Responsibilities
- Create a quality product
- Participate in training to produce a quality product and use preventative measures to meet customer requirements and Tenneco standards
- Comply with legal and other requirements to avoid injury and/or ill health to themselves and others
- Understand and implement preventative measures to create a safe environment, identifying potential emergency situations and reporting incidents to supervisor/manager
- Adhere to the facility's quality, environmental, health and safety policies as outlined by the Management Systems
- Perform multiple manufacturing processes, including setup and operation of various machines such as blenders, VSI and VG compacting presses, furnaces, impregnation units, cryo units, grinders, machining lathes, and related equipment
- Read and interpret product specifications, purchase orders, and production schedules to ensure accurate processing
- Record information for inspection and production using various forms, logs, and computer systems
- Ensure appropriate and timely communication between departments
- Maintain product quality by monitoring for product specifications using inspection equipment such as CMM, digital indicators, optical comparators, calipers, and other tools
- Verify equipment settings, feeds, speeds, temperatures, pressures, and other parameters to ensure compliance with specifications
- Operate overhead hoists and hand jacks, load and unload containers, and perform necessary maintenance on equipment
- Analyze and monitor scrap and nonconforming parts to identify causes of failure and improve processes
- Operate under safety rules and regulations, troubleshoot equipment issues, and perform routine maintenance
- Work overtime as required and may be mandated for this position
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety rules and regulations
- Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
- Reasoning ability: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Physical demands: regular standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent use of hands and arms, and occasional use of feet
Skills
Operator must be highly motivated, able to work independently, and an effective team player. Mechanical ability is also crucial.
