About the role
Under the general supervision of the Survey/Sample Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for high-quality assay sampling and timely delivery of samples while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.
Responsibilities
- Effectively report to the Tech Services Department to ensure that quality standards of sampling are maintained. Sampling includes use of shovel, other sampling equipment, and mobile equipment.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
- Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
- Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in job performance.
- Work without risk or harm to self and others.
- Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
- Assist department personnel with the duties listed above.
- Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Must be self-motivated, able to identify and perform work that needs to be done without constant instruction.
- General understanding of mining operations.
- Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Experience in working safely near moving equipment is preferred.
- Experience in driving on pit ramps preferred.
- Must be fit to wear a respirator.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Able to shovel and lift full sample bags weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Working knowledge and skill with PC, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Requires a valid driver’s license.

This position reports to the Engineering Specialist. Background check and US work permit required. English language proficiency is required.
