Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, and document sample information in our system, as well as any non-conforming samples.
- Receive processing instructions from administrative and managerial staff through job notes, shift meetings, and various electronic tools.
- Use industrial equipment to carry out samples preparation for testing including drying, crushing, splitting, pulverizing, and other sample prep' processing in accordance with SOPs and policies.
- Perform QC checks to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Inspect, monitor, and maintain equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Clean equipment and stations daily to avoid possible contamination of samples and degradation of equipment.
- Comply with OSHA, BV Group Policy and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures, and ISO standards applicable to the Sample Preparation technician position.
- Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate general issues to the Sample Preparation supervisor as appropriate; report any deviation(s) from documented procedures, unsafe condition(s), and work non-conformances.
- Submit to testing for silica exposure on a regular basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School education or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in mining industry is preferred, but not essential.
- Great attitude with ability to work effectively either as an individual or member of a team.
- History of good attendance and reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50lbs for an entire workday.
