About the role

This entry-level position is for a Sample Preparation Scientist in a CAP-Accredited high-throughput clinical toxicology laboratory. The SPS is responsible for the preparation of urine and oral fluid samples for drug confirmation testing using LC-MS/MS technology. Duties include organizing and processing samples for batched assay testing using robotic liquid handling instrumentation, preparing patient sample dilutions, and submitting batches to LC-MS/MS instrumentation. The SPS may also prepare reagents as needed during the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares samples for analysis using complex instrumentation, including automated liquid handlers
  • Ensures proper handling of patient samples
  • Performs basic LCMS instrument operations
  • Maintains a testing workflow to ensure accurate and timely lab reporting
  • Documents all corrective and preventative action in all testing procedures using good documentation practices
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of all instrument logs and laboratory records
  • Works to build knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of all laboratory instrumentation and maintenance and troubleshooting, including but not limited to robotic handling and LC-MS/MS
  • Assists in performing other duties in the laboratory, when needed
  • Assists in training new employees
  • Prepares solutions, reagents, standards, and controls in accordance with the laboratory’s documented standard operating procedures
  • Follows all safety, HIPAA and regulatory compliance standards

Requirements

Minimum Education/Experience: Must meet or exceed the minimum education requirements below:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science OR Bachelor’s in Biological Science or Chemical Science (transcripts subject to review)
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. (we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time)

Schedule

Full-time: Monday through Friday, every other Saturday from 4 pm to 12 am.
