Sample Management Laboratory Technician - 1st Shift

As a Sample Management Laboratory Technician at IDEXX, you perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. Responsibilities

• Receive, prepare, and accession veterinary samples (blood, urine, feces, and biopsies) for laboratory analysis and testing.
• Remove specimens from transport bags and enter specimen data into a computer tracking system.
• Rack and bundle prepared samples for delivery to each testing department.
• Assist other lab personnel with specimen storage and ensuring Turn Around Times (TATs) are met.
• Assist in other departments as needed, including loading analyzers and supporting testing processes.
• Specialize in Sample Management.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• A 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred but not required.
• Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) is a plus.
• Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting, and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers) is ideal.
• Positive attitude and ability to bring energy to support colleagues.
• Strong teamwork orientation and sense of responsibility.
• Attention to detail and ability to work reliably and precisely.
• Able to meet physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone and computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lbs, and specific vision abilities (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
• Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule

The hours for this position are Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM. Shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
