SAM Big Mo Student Worker

About the role

This Federal Work-Study position supports the Spartanburg Academic Movement's Big Mo Initiative, a community-based program designed to expand postsecondary access for high school students in Spartanburg County. The student employee will assist in outreach, program coordination, and resource development that help connect students and families with college access information, financial aid resources, and postsecondary planning support.

Responsibilities

• Aid in planning and preparing for college tours, workshops, and postsecondary access events for local high school students
• Support outreach efforts that connect students and families with information about scholarships, FAFSA completion, and college access programs
• Develop and maintain resource materials related to postsecondary planning and financial aid opportunities
• Collect, organize, and maintain program participation data in accordance with organizational procedures
• Provide administrative and logistical support for community programming and events
• Perform other related duties that support the mission of the Big Mo Initiative and comply with Federal Work-Study program requirements

Summary
Founded in 1911, Spartanburg Methodist College is a private residential liberal arts institution serving a diverse student population within the United Methodist Connection. Since its founding as the first co-op school in the nation, SMC has remained dedicated to its mission to connect education and employment. After over 100 years as an Associate Degree granting institution, the college launched its first bachelor's degree in 2019.
