About the role

The Salon Retail Coordinator oversees the operation and functional management of the front desk, reporting to the Salon Manager. This is a non-exempt position focused on delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a welcoming experience for every guest.

Responsibilities

  • Client Sales and Service
    • Suggest retail products to all clients, including upselling larger quantities, promotions, and additional services.
    • Cross-sell services across different salon areas.
    • Respond professionally to customer service issues and address complaints promptly.
    • Handle difficult or corrective service situations with strong communication skills.
    • Resolve booking mistakes or corrective work in a positive manner.
    • Manage refunds and re-dos professionally and courteously.
    • Pursue ongoing personal education on products, services, and industry trends.
    • Promote the salon outside of business hours.
    • Adjust schedule to accommodate client needs.
  • Telephone and Reception
    • Acknowledge clients within 60 seconds of their arrival.
    • Answer the phone within three rings, with a smile, stating your name and salon location.
    • Listen for a reply before placing a client on hold.
    • Efficiently manage scheduling, cancelations, and rescheduling of appointments.
    • Process POS transactions promptly and accurately.
    • Encourage pre-bookings during client check-out.
  • Salon and Personal Presentation
    • Ensure the reception area and salon comply with State Board Regulations.
    • Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
    • Organize time and resources to meet sales goals.
    • Communicate with Salon Management regarding any issues or needs.
    • Adhere to salon guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
    • Maintain a professional appearance in line with salon dress code.

Requirements

  • GED or High School diploma.
  • Proficiency in computer-based business software.
  • Ability to handle money, count change, and process transactions.
  • Customer service or cosmetic industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard, standard telephone, and related business equipment.
  • Ability to work with chemicals and chemical compounds.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8-hour shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
